METAL DETECTORIST WORST NIGHTMARE

My worst nightmare involves government officials taking pictures of my car & me while metal detecting.

A "No Trespassing" sign that is respected is not a nightmare, it's a reflection of one's values. Going through the trouble of locating an owner and then the big step of contact and approval is even more respected. How bad do you want to hunt that spot? No matter how bad you want to hunt it, it's your choice to pursue it.

A "No Trespassing" sign means no trespassing without permission! That doesn't necessarily mean NO. It means please ask kindly and maybe you'll get lucky. Take the time to ask-the worst they'll do is say no-but you might hear "yes" and wind up with the find of a lifetime.

Not that they would ever happen but my worst nightmare would be finding a land mine or a space ship. Space ship because the goverment would claim it and I would never get to sell it on Ebay...

Q: What in the world would you sell alien technology on E-Bay for? (drum roll)

A: Whatever the winning bid is.....

Yep, back to topic, getting a name is easier than getting a sentence.

NO TRESPASSING means that the average person will loose out & the determined detectorist will find a way to prevail, maybe on an undected site. GOODIES ! GOODIES ! GOODIES ! Spotz

Hey guys,

I think salvet66's point was the entire hassle of going through the steps to gain access. Let's face it, some people are not comfortable with stepping out of their perspective comfort zones. Confronting a stranger to ask permission to access their property without knowing the type of person the owner is, is rather intimidating. Not something one looks forward to doing.

I do agree with all the comments about desire to succeed and perseverance! But, that doesn't mean you have to like the process :) I think, I may be wrong (most of the time I am wrong :D ), that is what salvet66 was trying to say.

Know of place where French Indian War Colonel parked his army while white prisoner exchange went on. Site next county over and has never been hunted to my knowledge, I grew up about twenty miles away as crow flies. Land marked No Tresspassing no exceptions. How frustrating is that?

Sounds like you're on an old colonial trail of some sort. These troops were mostly on foot. A lot of people talk about the distance these guys traveled each day and some of those bivouacs might not be so far away and more easily accessible. Have fun and happy hunting

Had a " Worst Nightmare" last night. I had to spend two weeks on the beach in sunny Folrida & due to all the Hurricane damage, there were no batteries anywhere. Just had to pick up all the gold coins just laying in plain sight & couldn't use the DFX. Ha Ha Ha! Spotz
