Hi, I am going to be heading to Italy to visit my family and I will be bringing my tesoro silver umax carry-on (I would sh*t bricks if I lost it in my luggage). I hope I get some good results as the grounds there are definitely older than any in my city. I am going on a 2-week trip and the first week I will be in Austria and then in Bologna for the last week. Last time I was their I was 13 and I remember seeing an old wall by my aunts house up in the mountains. If I am correct that wall has been up since ww2 and is a memorial with guns mounted on it. Hopefully I can dig some goodies. I would like to hear of some of your metal detecting vaca trips and if you could provide me with some tips! Thanks

My aunt as well as myself looked at in to it and it is allowed but some areas are not allowed to be touched

You can metal detect on farmers fields, with permission, till your arms fall off. Heck, it even says so there in the link that rodger gives. But as far as the part about historical items, antiquities, etc.... Hmmm, I wonder who goes around following all the md'rs, armed with calculators, doing the math on the age of the coins those md'rs find? There's other md'rs in Italy (I sold a detector to a guy there once, who had answered a for-sale classified ad I'd posted, and as such, I had a conversation with him on this very subject).

But I'll betcha those guys detecting in Italy don't find any old or archaeologic items RIGHT? Of course not. We all know that.

If you get caught you will be forced too eat good pizza, spaghetti and lasagna for 5 years!

Lol go figure I just turned 18 a month before the trip :o

Lol picks out an old object and pretends as if its junk. "Nothing incredibly cool here people, move along just your very uncommon trash."
