Metal detecting in bahams

Hello everyone. just got a new whites dmx. I am going to the bahamas for vacation in december. Was wondering if metal dectectors are allowed thru customs in bahamas and if we can detect on beaches there. we are going to the atlantis hotel. Can i carry my detector on the air plane with me broken down in a back pack? has anyone taken there on a plane and to the bahamas? Could use your insite into this mater. thanks ameruss

I took my metal detector with me years ago on a cruise ship. I used it on an out island in the Bahamas. Bingo...first hit: a gold ring under the volly ball net. No one said anything... Some guys that worked on the ship were very interested...All those tourists.. .I did NOT try to use it in Cozumel, Mexico for obvious reasons.(Mayan ruins). :P
Try calling the airlines. They should be able to help you.
