New here and new to metal detecting, Maybe I have ADD , brother had an old Garrett's A.D.S Deepseeker detector that was given to me and has sparked a lot of interst in me . I plan on digging everything as I have no clue what I'm doing. I have the manual and plan on running in automatic mode. There is mention of first setting the Optimum Tuning Point, move the control away from Null until a faint sound is heard, is this done with the detector held near ground our in the air? Next says In Auto Tuning detector will stay tuned. Is this thing now ready to get diggin or is there more :P. I want to have this baby hit everything and as deep as I can get 8) After reading on it goes through setting VLR and at the end says these instructions given for manual tuning in, Automatic tuning is the same but not necessary, then goes on to tell you how to do it any way. Maybe why this thing was given to me anyhow ;D. Probably not anyone around that's run one of these any way :D. Great forum here, I can't wait for things to thaw out and get this thing beeping. Thanks ahead , to anyone with some pointers if any.

First welcome to TNet. :hello:

I have used the ole Deepseakers and hardly remember them. I think what you are referring to moving it away from null means you have a TR type detector if I an not mistaken. These Transmit and Receive detectors are easy to use, but keep giving you signals if you move the coil too far off the ground. Suggest you forget using it and shop for a entry level newer model which will be easier to operate and lighter weight. Some thing like the Garrett Ace 250 which has a screen to tell you what it thinks the target is.

Thanks, I may do that but I think this old beast will prove to be more than what I need to pull a few coins ;D. I should just do as the manual says and read over, and over, and over until you understand what there trying to say :D
