I got permission to hunt my neighbor's yard, and the house was built in 1695. It's a beautiful house and property and I have been wanting to hunt this site for a long time. They gave me the history of the house and the surrounding property and showed me some antique bottles that were found in the back woods.

I found my first Indian Head Penny maybe 30 minutes into the hunt. It was probably around 5 or 6 inches deep, near the woods in the back of the property. Got it out of the hole and I was pretty sure I found something good. When I cleaned it off I noticed there weren't many details and I had trouble ID'ing it at first. Finally I saw that I found an Indian Head! It was tough getting a date off of it, but from what I can see, I believe it is either from 1864 or 1894.

Shortly after I found the Indian Head, I found an old buckle, not even 10 feet away from where I found the IHP. I'm not sure of the age of the buckle, but I wouldn't be surprised if its from the 1700's.

Of course I dug some trash, square nails, and such, but the only other coin was a zinc penny. I'm planning on going back soon and hopefully I will have another great hunt.

Thanks for looking everybody. HH!

The site has great potential for Colonial coins. You found a Colonial shoe buckle chape. Great find!

Kirk :hello:

Sounds you got a great "undetected" site there all for yourself! :o
Take your time and do it right man! :icon_thumright:
