I've been trying to clean a copper/bronze button/clasp,it was very encrusted and I soaked it in olive oil for 30 days. I then gave it a toothbrush scrub to remove some of the encrustation but it just helped a little....I now have it soaking it a metal de-corroder.......I will post pics before/after if this proves to work......has anyone had good results with a de-corroder.....I also read that a denture brush will work better than a toothbrush when scrubbing your find.

I have not tried de-corroder, but you might try a little vinegar and baking soda.

Interested in the picture as soon as you pull it out. I have never tried that ether.

I tried the baking soda scrub before the olive oil soak and took a photo.......I just checked the de-corroder solution and it is removing particles .....I will scrub it in the morning and then post the photos.

Photos posted.....also see Clasp?Button? in What is it section.
