I dug this at an 1850's home.

I originally thought it was a lipstick tube but it seems solid, has some weight, and doesn't look like it opens.

It has 3 rings on one end and a logo on the other end that looks like a crest but I can't make it out.

Any ideas?

what does the bottom look like? Thought maybe old valve stem cover?

Solid and smooth.
I've found valve stem covers before, but this is a lot heavier.
It's not a tube either. It's a solid cylinder.

I'm currently leaning toward wax seal stamp but not confident at all.

This Is Not An Item...I Would Want To Kiss!

What I believe you have found is Antique Military Brass End of a Riding Crop!

The Curse of Oak Island found a similar one which they identified as a Top to a Lipstick.

I believe they have misidentified this item.

Yours is very similar in my opinion

Lipstick tube. Yours should come apart.

I suppose I needed more research.

The find on Oak Island was verified as a Lipstick Tube.

Is your find open or closed at the bottom?

Lipstick tube, just rusted together. It's heavy because it's likely filled with sediment.

Thanks for the help folks.

I cleaned it up better with scotch brite and was then able to see some really fine print that read Merle Norman.

It's a lipstick tube.

It's heavy. Hopefully there's more inside it than just dirt.
