Got these at a yard sale. They are approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the base of the figure to top and not sure what kind of metal. Found many varieties of metal Winnie the Pooh charms online
with connecting loops on the head but can't find any figures with the slotted bottom part like these. The slotted part is about 1/2 inch and curious to know it's purpose.

I thought so until I enlarged the photo. they are not forks on the ends but loops. These looked like charecters for a mechanical animation and these are unique. Any markings on them? Very cool finds

Thanks for the suggestions but I have to agree with trdking that they belong to something mechanical. No markings on them. There is also a small keyway above the slot. Had a suggestion on another site that they may be for a music box inserted individually. That makes sense to me but I can't find any music boxes online with these metal characters. There are a couple other figures not shown in the picture but believe they are all Winnie the Pooh characters if that helps.

Did you find them in the 100 acre woods?

I'm thinking travel game pieces. Notches in the bottom line them up in holes on a board and a rod can slip thru to hold them in place for storage. Of course, I'm just guessing...

The loops look like the end of the cleaning rod for my repro 19th C musket. But don't expect we'll find any tiny Pooh Enfields. Paddington, maybe. But not Pooh...

I was surprised to see Winnie the Pooh chess in my limited research.

Studs on bottoms may have passed through bells and slots allowed attaching a hanger for the clapper?

Excellent thought but no threads? Aren't they usually threaded?

Beats me. There is a slot/keyway in round stock above slotted rod that may have taken a key or wedge. Maybe a glue before securing around round part.

O.K., got it now bruce..
New England Collectors Society promoted/sold these around the eighties.
Someone removed the silver plated bells off your figurines for some reason....

Wow! Awesome ID. I would NEVER have gone there. Who would take the bell off and chuck the rest? But that's what it is! Here is Christopher Robin from the same web site:

Also saw "Owl" there.

Now that they are missing the Bell they can be sold for wad cleaning for 1" barrel .38 cals? :)
