Snuff can? In the old days snuff was very popular. I've watched old movies where people would take a pinch of dry powdery "snuff" from a snuff box,and snort it. Think I tried it once, and it made my eyes water and I sneezed like crazy.
Now,I "chew" Copenhagen. It says snuff on the can,but you surely wouldn't snort it (well, maybe someone here has :o). But we call it "snoose" here. Is that just a Pacific Northwest term?
I've been criticised for chewing it,and I do feel some guilt about my ONLY VICE, but my dental hygenist admits that my teeth and gums are fine after 32 years of chewing. I have not had a single cavity since I started (several before),and my teeth accumulate almost NO plaque.
Many people who I work with do not even know I chew. Mints and discretion make a difference.

My grandmother use to dip snuff and it apparently was quite popular around the turn of the century and just beyond. She use the old dry powdery kind that came in a 6 oz water glass. I drank out of snuff glasses at her house all the time I was growing up. She never sniffed it that I know of. She had a little silver spoon that she would dip it out of the glass with and hold it between her teeth and gums just like you do your "smokeless tobacco". She did it for 50 years or more and never had a problem that I know of except very nasty dentures that she soaked in a snuff glass beside the bed every night. I never saw her spit either! By today's standards, smokeless tobacco has been linked to oral cancer and I have seen some very disturbing pictures of fairly young men and even a few teenagers with oral cancer from smokeless tobacco. Of course any form of tobacco use is a risky business according to the medicos and all the life insurance companies charge a terribly high premium for tobacco users. Of course you probably know all of this, but maye some of the youngsters on Tnet don't. I have been addicted to cigarettes for many years and I wish to heck I had never seen one. Monty Oh, back on the subject, very nice little box & a good find! :o

To Monty and anyone curious about trying it,
I surely do regret ever starting this habit. It is a nasty habit, very difficult to quit ! You do not need to try everything in this world to see what it is like! Use your good sense or heed the advice of knowing people to avoid traps in life. I am very sorry if I led anyone astray with my previous post here.

I agree with JD. I use the stuff and very few people know I do except for the circle on my back pocket. I've quit smoking & drinking, but this is something else...very hard to do. It's not "cool" and would agree with JD...don't try it!
