I decided to resurface this topic on this ancient mirror.
I did a gold test on it and to my amazement it contains gold
alongwith copper and maybe other metals. This is ancient
mirror from a place where Kushan period coins have been found
in Panjir Swabi Pakistan. Will apprecitae if someone with knowledge
of Indus Valley artifacts and relics can give a valuation on this piece.
Dimensions are 7.5 inch x 4.5 inch. It weighs a heavy 750 grams.
It is extremely heavy for its size which also explains the alloy
containing gold.
Will it have better value as an antique or to smelt it for gold?
Opinion is needed.
Thnks.

IMO if it is truly an artifact it would be a huge mistake to destroy it just to get a little gold out of it..... That is what gives this hobby a bad name with many authorities in the world.

During the last silver rush thousands of people made the mistake of taking the family silver and selling it as scrap! :BangHead:

When in reality the antique value was significantly more than the going scrap prices. :angry4:

Don't you make the same mistake! :read2:

"IF" this is actually as you (you ONLY) discovered/dug it----PLEASE_____ do NOT melt it ......take time to document as much as you can about details of this find.....then take time to find the best buyer.... Have you heard of ANTIQUES ROADSHOW ??? Perhaps you can link w/an honest dealer/family member/friend/coworker In the US or Britian, who can do you and this potentially rare artifact the justice due of such a (rare ?) find. PLEASE KEEP US POSTED____we are a nosey 'bunch' of treasure HUNTERS>>>>.
