well I met two great guys (Chris and Tom) who flew in
from Portland, OR to hunt the east coast with their Minelabs.
They both are members of the gold coin club and very
dedicated hunters. They are traveling up to NY from PA (possibly
beyond North) and looking for people who wouldn't mind taking
them to some good sites and would like to MD with them.
These are good people and I would recommend
hunting with them if you get the chance. They'll be here
until about the 26th of September.

I took them to a site that has produced 1700's, 1800's,
and 1900's coins and was hoping they would find their
first colonial coins in my old hunting grounds. Although
they found some old buckles and old stuff - the oldest
coins they found were early date wheaties. Unfortunately
some of my best hunting areas are still under crops.

Did manage to find a 1900 Indian head in pretty good shape,
a buckle, some old bottles from a dump site freshly unearthed
that Chris discovered, and of all things a boomarang sitting
in some bushes.

Chris and Tom found some nice old bottles in pretty good
shape. Best find was two very nice MD'ers who really
love this hobby! :)

ok now we have pictures!

Sunday Sept 10th!

Well one of my old sites was vindicated today – Chris and Tom found no less than 3 seated dimes, 2 barber dimes, 2 merc’s, and 12 Indian head pennies!!! So they won’t be leaving this area empty handed. The seated were all in the 1880’s. I was unable to hunt with them today but sure would have liked to dug another seated coin! This was a site that I haven't hunted for over 10 years. :)

Wow.... why would you even be posting in these forums when you have sites that can still produce like this? Those are incredible finds and I would be hunting that spot until I thought there were no coins left in the ground!

I think I'll have to agree with bscofield6. I haven't had a site like that in.................wait I've never dug more than 1 or 2 seated at any one place. :'(

well for one I wouldn't go there alone and two it's well over 70 miles from where i live.
why would I risk my person in a dangerous park when i'm surronded with more places dating back to 1700's than I could ever hunt????

I'll bet you never dug 4 reales from one place either have you? Or 20 large coppers.

Finding one old copper is RARE around here. The area just isn't that old.

Very nice of you to set them up. You are the kind of people who make this hobby great. Sounds like their trip was worthwhile already. PA and NY are great states to hunt in.

Mirage

your a good hearted person to let them in on your spots-! god bless.
