I got this clay pitcher today at GW- I usually stay away from old china and pottery as it's hard for me to tell just how old or valuable they are, but this looked really old and had a glazing I've never seen with neat engraved writing. Couldn't find anything else about it other than it was for an old Spanish cafe or inn or plaza, and that at one point more recently they made tourist miniatures of this pitcher, which I thought might be a good sign to get it. Also, the glazing is worn thru in spots covering most of the inside and outside, and the clay on the underside shows small stone temper in it, which I also took as a good sign. But what is it and what is the place it's from? Any idea on age? Thanks all!

looks modern to me, I don't see the patina
also, the marks on the bottom are new

And yes, I've been to Spain several times

What marks on the bottom? Did you mean the black crayon price from Goodwill? Or something I didn't see? Thanks!

Your pot says Meson(an old fashioned inn) of San Javier/ Count and then either a number 3 or a symbol, maybe address or place/ Madrid(city in Spain). Sure looks like a souvenir pot to me. Fairly new. Sorry...

Yup agreed. I see similar on ebay if i type in madrid clay pitcher. Seems like they made them for all kinds of restaurants and such. I'm happy- i would rather buy something cheap and find its not valuable than not buy something cheap and then find out it was valuable! Thank you guys for your input!
