I am in Las Cruces New Mexico, "The Mesilla Valley" and have been hitting some old places I know about from years ago. Square nails, chunks of unidentifiable iron and one 1941 wheatie and a couple of clay marbles are all the relics I have recovered. Clad from a couple of parks, and a single John Adams Dollar. I surface found two clay marbles right off our farm property. There are quite a few glass marbles laying around the fields. I never bothered to pick them up but maybe I should?? They all look old and some are pretty beat up....weathered. A lot of broken/weathered glass all over one particular field. Looks like might have been a dumping ground? No sign of any foundations or buildings. The eastern property boundary is about 300 yards from the Rio Grande River. This area has been occupied and farmed for hundreds of years, Old Mesilla is a couple of miles south of our place. I have not done any research into our property but I think I might start. I have yet to swing the coil here as there is a ton of iron but I think I'll give it a whirl.
