Before I get caught up in the holidays I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I am a Vietnam Vet I served with the 101st Airborne Div.in 1969. Every year around this time I go back to when I was only 19 years old, a young Buck Sargent and asking myself how did I get 10,000 miles away from my home and land in this hole. I know there are many guys on this forum who are Service members. I came home with several problems and I will not go there and bore everyone. Just wanted to say you are all in my prayers, and I hope our new Service members are getting the help they deserve. if you know or see a Soldier, please go over and shake his hand and thank him for his service. This will be something he will never forget and something we never got when we came home. I would like to thank Vietnam Veterans for their service and welcome home. Everyday I keep fighting, and I do it day by day. Metal detecting helps keep me grounded and belonging to this forum has helped with my PTSD big time. it just feels like home, all the people treated me with respect and are polite. Now I have been on many forums, but this forum seems more like a family and much more friendlier. I want to Thank You all for accepting me into the family. I even made a purchase from a member who gave me a great deal on a detector. I really appreciate all the help, and I hope to maybe meet up with a couple of you and go hunting together in the future. Merry Christmas to all and I am always here if someone needs help.. Sincerely....Pete (Sgt Tee)

A very Blessed Christmas to you and your Family Sarge!

Thank you for your service Pete. I was 10 years too young to serve in Nam, but remember the funeral of a cousin I never knew that was the first to be killed in my home county in Kentucky. Hearing Taps still makes me remember the sorrow of that and how it is the saddest song in the world. Looking forward to meeting you and hunting next spring. Take care and God Bless. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Taps will break me down every time I hear it also. I was good at my Dads funeral but when we went to the cemetery and the Honor Guard was there blowing Taps, I lost it. Too many of my buddies killed and for what?? I don't want to get started on this subject. I appreciate your comment! I am sure we will hook up next year, God Willing, that I have my health to do so. Best of Days to you........Pete

Sgt Tee, first off Thank you for your service, secondly Merry Christmas and thirdly may your finds be plentiful. I also served in the army and thank every service member I meet for their service. I enjoy buying them their meals when I see them in airports. None of them expect it and all of them try to decline but I know they deserve it. As we all know, the Viet Nam vets unfortunately did not receive this welcome home. Good luck detecting and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Thank You.
