Mercury from 1920's house!

Newest silver. Dug in front yard of my wife's parents house. This is a great place for me to detect as I can dig the biggest ugliest holes with out caring much. (Their yard is a constant work in progress for the last 5 years). This is the first silver to come out. I have gotten about 20 wheaties and a 5 gallon bucket full of Iron. Slowly though I am cleaning all the trash out and will be able to really pound out some good finds with my new DFX soon.

Re: Mercury from 1920's house!

Thanks guys,

This is my second one. I am still super confused on the DFX. It is so much more of a machine than my Classic ID. I think that this find was sorta luck. I have been clearing all the iron junk out of the yard for months now. And this must have just been in the right place when I swung that new DFX because I certanly was not sure what the machine was telling me yet. I am gonna try to get a few more hours in today to see if I cant get it down a little more, and hopefully this weekend I am going to meet up with another detectorist that has offered to show me my machine a little bit. I believe he even works for whites.

1938 is some what of a key date, Nice find!!

You have a good way to learn your Whites. I will have no coach when I get my XLT.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Re: Mercury from 1920's house!

Nice Merc Deadshot, I personally have a XLT and I like to have the option to go with the simple basic programs or play with all the advanced options. Your DFX is a machine that will keep up with you as your knowledge and experence grows.

And MUD, the XLT is an awesome detector and as with the DFX, there is plenty of sites on the internet which will give tips and tricks for the particular detector.

I too have a soft spot in my heart for those Mercs'. My first silver was a 1919 Mercury dime. It was in great shape.

Congrats!
Really nice find!!

Re: Mercury from 1920's house!

Cool dime. My sisters house was built in 1920 and was first used as a church. I hope I can find something like that there.

Congratulations, Dshot. Good luck with the DFX. I love mine. Did you buy the book "Digging Deeper with the DFX" by Jeff Foster? It has a lot of great info. Check out the forum DFXonly.com. It will have some good programs to try. This is the best forum, though!
