MERCURY DIMES ----HELP

well if they gave them to you,you made out big time....i would search t hem for key or semi key dates, and at melt value they should be worth .30 or 40 cents each...

Check out a Redbook or coin magazine or the aforementioned site for key dates and high grade coins. If you have anything exceptional, set it aside and don't handle it, or at least hold it by the edge if you must.

Most likely, you have good ol' fashioned junk silver Mercury dimes---and boy are they neat! Most coin shops pay about 80 to 90 cents per merc. Check out http://www.coinflation.com/ for their theoretical melt value.

Happy hunting, you lucky dog! ;)

Thanks for the web site. JIM

most mercs arent worth a whole lot unless you have a key date coin, when checking the years be sure to check the mint mark as well, gonna be on the reverse "back" on the bottom left. Even if you dont have any key dates and all are only worth .30 or so 100 dimes I would say is about 4 ounce in silver alone and thats worth $13.38an ounce now so either way youll make out good :)

Great site!!Will add it to my favorites. Seriously though if you know somebody that is buying mercs for .80 to .90 cents each let me know. Most the dealers around me dont seem to adjust there buying price by the silver value. They pay .30 to .40 each, but sell for them for 1.00 each or more.......

What condition are they in? I might take em off your hands :)

thats because most coin dealer are crooks.
I SAID MOST NOT ALL

RED BOOK 2008
from 1920 on back in mercs average 2.50 ea some are higher 1 @ 1.75 and one at 900.00
1916d 900.00 thats all quotes for G4 condition
if you want to know a key date email me.
dont sell them for less that 2.00 each and check all dates.
bet no one who wanted to buy them told you that did they.
Good Luck

the three best coins to look for are the 1916-d 1921-d and 1921

Also check your 1942 for the overdate 1942/1 this coin in either phili or Denver can go for about 500 in Fine or better. as others have said the 1916 D is the grandaddy of em all but there are other semi key dates. Make sure you get a 5 or 10x scope and check all 1942's they are the most overlooked coins in the Mercs and you may be lucky to find one.
