I was at one of my spots where I have found
20 wheaties but no other coins which was weird,
but today was going to be a bit different and I had
found the usual few wheaties and got a dime signal
on my Ace at about 6 inches and dug my plug and
low and behold there was my first non wheatie find
from this site, a 1924 Mercury in sweet shape !!!

Nice, I just found my first one the other day also. Good feeling isn't it? I just can't imagine finding the numbers of silver coins some members on here find; but I'm tryin'...

Nice piece o Silver!
I'm in the same boat as Dug1898 with the silvers, but they are adding up :hello2:

ive found several Mercuries before but none
at this site that ive dubbed Wheat City cause
of all the wheaties ive dug here.
I think its one of the pretties coins in the U.S.
Thank you both for the comments

WTG! Yeah, the silver can be elusive. It really takes time and learning to figure out how to find it.

Maybe you had to clean out all the wheaties before the silver would start popping up! Nice dig!! :icon_thumleft:

Metal magic sed, "WTG! Yeah, the silver can be elusive. It really takes time and learning to figure out how to find it."

There is a lot of truth to this.....one does have to learn the "language" of their individual machine and some of them are much harder to learn than others (think Mandarin Chinese). Fortunately, I have one that didn't take long to understand (Fisher F75), however, it will sometimes lie, but, it means well. Yesterday, I had a bouncing signal from around 61 to 84 VDI on the 'x' and 'y' axis. I would normally chalk this up to some can shrapnel, but, on this one I could move the coil just ever so slightly and get a 61, a 73 and an 84. Sure enough, at around 4-5" I found a penny, dime and quarter sitting right next to each other. I love this machine!

Best wishes with the Ace, it sounds like you are off and running!

Congrats on the Merc find Allen!
Love to see what it looks like all cleaned up . . . minus the dirt! :laughing7:
