Had a fantastic 3 hour hunt today at an old schoolhouse that is now a home. Started out finding wheaties and buttons. I don't know a thing about military buttons, but the yard had lots of them. Maybe someone can date them for me. I'm sure they are probably newer buttons. Since there were wheaties I was sure I would run into some silver and eventually i did. First came the 1926 Mercury dime and later on the 1911 Barber dime. The wheaties span dates of 1909 to 1950. Along with the coins, I found the normal whatsits like the multicolored bird thing, the horse pin, the medical alert tag, the clothespin looking thing, the gavel, a tag that says P.A.V., and a beautiful railroad switch key, stamped with B & S RR, which is the Buffalo/Susquehanna Railroad. I'm gonna hit that site soon again and hope there are more finds to come. Happy Hunting!!

Nice hunt, those are some nice finds.

As for the buttons i'm not sure becauser i dont know much about them but i dug one today that looked just like yours and i checked it up online and came to the conclusion that mine was a ww1 button. Hope that helps.

Nice stuff. I'm still looking for a skeleton key. (I'd take one of those buttons too)

Graet Seal buutons,Military used from 1902 to present. If you post the backmarks a few very knowledgable folks on here can narrow it down further for you

Nice finds, looks like a great place to hunt. Your key is a railroad key,I cant make out the line could be a rare one though,I have found just one of them several years ago some of them can go for some big bucks, definitely your best find of the day, mine is one of my favorite finds,HH...shoot

Thanks guys! I love that railroad key...i'll try to post the backs of the buttons but they look fairly new. The one stamped U.S. looks older than the other ones...
