It may sound familiar. It's called 'il silenzio'.
And if you have served or are a patriot, it might choke you up--as it does me each time I listen to it.

Enjoy the day, but remember why you are 'free'.
Don....
That was very beautiful Don, thank you, thank you.

Thank you all, we will always remember....... :notworthy:
All gave some, some gave all....... :notworthy:

24 Notes That Tap Deep Emotion
TAPS

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hill,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Thanks and praise, For our days,
’Neath the sun, ’Neath the stars,
’Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.

Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest

Choked me up!! Thanks Don & Pat for two great posts!

I would like to add this if you don't object. It's not mine, but I found it very moving.

Mack, thank you for that beautiful rendition. You could see how quiet the audience was and the deep attention they were paying to each note.
Pat, thanks for the links and the history!
TH, that is a video I am so very glad to see. Thank you very much for posting it. As Mack said, it is a very good addition to the thread. Hard to believe such a young man could and would pay such humbling and admirable respect for our heroes long gone. It gives hope that the bravery and determination those who perished there is still alive today.

Hi TH, the item you presented is quite wonderful, unfortunately it seems to be a propaganda piece! Who filmed it, who paid for it, who produced it? Sorry, very moving but not realistic. Much like the American pickers freestyling( not really free styling, camera crews, sound crews, script writers etc. Thanks but I believe this a fail.....Joe McDonough

I'd listened to this before, stumbled into it a while back. A very emotional piece. All is well, safely rest.

Folks,

In honor to our fallen soldiers I'll add this song.

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms.

Joe, the incident is real whether you choose to believe it or not is your choice although I do find your challenge and calling it propaganda offensive, especially on Memorial Day of all days.

It was on the 70 anniversary of D-Day so yes there were camera crews that saw boy that day and went to film him, there are also tourists walking in front of the camera.

He was not allowed to enter the cemetery where he planned to give his tribute so he went to the beach...

I completely disagree, but I would along with others here who served.
