Could be a fired musket ball or just melted lead as you say.

sorry didn't give you a size comparison in the picture, it takes up the palm of my hand so way too big for musket ball. would the white stuff be from a crucible?

Looks like cooled lead from a smelting pot left over from pouring bullets.
