Heading out to the Melbourne Beach area next month and was wondering if anyone gets lucky there
finding any Spanish coins or artifacts. I read somewhere that someone may have found a 1715 wreck in that area but the state has halted any research or recovery at this time.
I realize most of the known wrecks are S. of Sebastian but any advice/tips besides staying out of the water would be helpful.

Try Spessard Holland Park in the Indialantic/Melbourne area and there is another park just 1/4 mile south of there, can't recall the name, across from the Brevard County fire station.

An 18th century Spanish shipwreck was located offshore in that area.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, as the case may be. It's not the State of Florida halting the recovery of this shipwreck, but an internal feud among the salvers.

Is this a case of running out of $$$$$ or a court case? They were going great guns for a while with the Polly L. Anybody know where that "boat" is now?

I don't know all of the details, so I will not speculate. I only hope that they are able to work it all out.
