The tooth fairy had better get her checkbook! Cash and Treasures is on the hunt for some very valuable teeth from the Megalodon, a giant, ancient ancestor of the shark. Becky kayaks and snorkels in the rivers of Southwest Florida searching for these fossilized fortunes. These days, the teeth are a sought after rarity; some can fetch a giant price - up to $20,000.

What's the other side look like? It's got a lot of enamel missing...it's worth a little bit in that condition...but it's not a several hundred dollar tooth because of the condition.

Where did you find it?

I found it in NC, the back enamel is in better condition, however it has a fissure along the length of the bourlet

:o :o :o

I am not sure of the "value" on that but to me it is . . .

:o PRICELSS !!!!! :o

What an incredibly excellent find! ;D

Bogart :D

I paid $5 for this one at a flea market in Memphis, TN while on a business trip. But that was 15 years ago before Jurasic Park and ebaY.

Not as much fun as finding one on a beach, but I got my wallet out quickly as I had honeymooned at Myrtle Beach and knew this was something worth more. ;)

Tkdwoody...

I am unable to take a guess at the value of that tooth, but I know it's more than just a few dollars. Collectors also look for the overall size of the tooth, but I have absolutely no experience in shark teeth diving.

I am very interested in it though. I took my family down to Fla for a vacation and we found lots of small ones at Venice beach on the west coast. We also took a guided shark tooth search with a professional guide. We found lots of teeth, but nothing big.

I have been trying to get a couple of my dive buddies interested in going on a road trip to South Carolina to dive the Columbia river, but these guys have no interest in it. So, I'm stuck. I'd like to get down your way to do some tooth dives. Are there any shark tooth dive charters that go out? I'd really be interested.

I just read about a 6 inch tooth with one chip, and it was valued at 100.00
