Hey, I'm new here. I really enjoy reading viewing the finds on this forum, I think they all are unique. Well I thought I would post my finds from my trip to Lithuania. I found these over my 2 month visit there. It is free to detect there and there are loads of places to visit. The grounds are mostly littered with WW2 relics like bullets, cartridges, I even found helmets. The coins shown date back to 1500s and to the reign of Sigismund II, more about him could be read on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigismund_II_Augustus.

The coins are exceptional, and most appear to be high grade with regards to wear. If you're going back to Lithuania, I'm more than happy to go along with you!

Man, that is an amazing hoard, and they're so well-preserved! :o

As a coin dealer, I've bought and sold slightly-newer Sigismund III coins that weren't dug, and those pieces didn't look as nice as your ground finds!

That's truly remarkable.

Alas, I can only dream of detecting in Europe. Perhaps one day I will get to do it.

Thanks for posting those!

How deep, on average, were the coins?

Hey, thanks for the nice comments. The coins that I dug were mostly 6in deep. I found some newer polish coins too, probably because part of Lithuania was ruled by Poland. It's really intersting to see the history behind these coins, just a thought that knight might held one is incredible. I'll post few more pics of my finds, hope you enjoy these aswell!

DITTO!!! Those are very nice, and quite different from the usual. Looks like I will have to put Lithuania on my wish list now too.
