Hi,

I found this a few days ago. Does anyone have a idea what that thing is?

Knowing the size and the location of the find would be helpful in determining the ID.

I'm thinking it's a broken saddle strap end decoration, likely made of brass with a silver wash. :icon_scratch:
Others here might be able to give you a better idea of the date, but I'm thinking 17th - 18thc.

My next guess would've been... "a smushed wall mounted bottle opener." :laughing7:

Greetings from Germany

A side profile photo with a ruler might be helpful. When you gave the measurements I was surprised. The piece is larger than I first thought.

My first thought was some sort of clog clasp. But I think it is too large for that...

It looks like a silver alloy to me - no rust or green patina. Only a little darkening like silver sometimes gets after many years in the ground.
