Hello all! New to the forums and to treasure hunting. This is my first interesting find from my first TH outing.
I found this under a tree at a depth of about 4 inches. Site was the backfield of a school build in the 60's in Chico, Ca. Found some large old nails nearby but nothing else to give a hint as to what it is. Backside has no visible markings. Not sure what metal its made of, but my ace 250 ID'd it in the quarter range. It is about half again as wide as a quarter and about as tall. There are two small holes, one left on right of the eagle. They do not go all the way through, but they might of at one time. The eagle and lower half have a slash mark across them, like it was struck with a heavy knife or tool. No clue what it could be.
