My dad gave this to me when I graduated highschool. He had it made from an original one that has long since been lost and I think was made of Brass (this one is made of 14k Gold) although it was a long time ago. I would like to find another one to give me to my father.

On one side is a paratrooper and the other shows St. Michael casting Satan out of Heaven.

Any help would be appreciated!

The medallion is slightly smaller than a penny.

Well, if you want a new one cast, I'd buy that one. At least you're half way there. ;D

The Canadian Sport Parachute Association sold those in the 70's so your best bet would be to contact geriatric skydivers. Know any?

Commissioned for the Heritage Battalion, this design study for a Corregidor medallion/ring adorns the TAPS page. The crest is designed to set a commemorative tone, with a paratrooper (foreground) falling to Corregidor below. Immediately behind him a canopy, partially in shadow, appears to give him angel's wings.

The choice of St. Michael as the patron saint of Paratroopers is based on the scene depicted in Daniel (X, 12:2) where Michael vanquishes Satan and his allies in a battle fought, in a large part in heaven, or, "Airborne." St. Michael's color is blue.

In World War II, Joe Natale, a chaplain for the airborne units instituted a St. Michael's Airborne Society, specifically for Catholics. An unknown GI drew St. Michael wearing jump boots vanquishing the devil. This fraternal organization quickly lost any particular religious affiliation, opening up membership to all airborne troops. A soldier must show proof of their airborne qualification to join. Depending on the Command or unit, members are often given a certificate and a St. Michael's medallion.

Thanks for the info so now I know the history behind the medallion! I don't think it's one of the originals since this one doesn't have the 503 so my guess is someone just took the idea.

Now I just need to find one in decent shape!

Now now don't be an smart @$$ Uncle, I know my dad was the one who originally bought it from the CSPA but he can't really remember anything else about it besides that. :tongue3:

I would love you have a "new one" recast but the problem is the St. Michael side is so worn out the Jeweler said if they tried to cast one from this, the St. Michael side would come out almost blank, thus the reason I'm actually looking for another one in good shape!

The reason I'm not wearing this one is because the small loop at the top of the pendant is made out of Gold and this is almost worn out and will soon break. If I can't get another one cast I may just take this one into a Jewelers and see if they will take that loop off and set the pendant into another pendant, sort of like when people get coins made into pendants.
