Jeff, Sad story that happens too frequently in PA streams. French Creek has a lot of strainers where I have fished. Downed trees can entrap as swimmer if the current is strong after heavy rains. Do you hunt much near Meadville? I used to visit a swimming hole off Pettis Road between Meadville and Cochranton as a kid. Had a deep hole and a tree swing. I think the locals called it "Stitchyville". Would love to find that place again and MD the hole.
