MDs on planes and going through MDs!

I went on my honeymoon to St. Kitts and took a Tesoro Amigo. I just took an old hard side piece of luggage, put everything I needed inside for detecting and checked it. This was two years ago so security was pretty tight but nothing was ever said. The Amigo did very well. I wanted a good, cheap, compact detector and this turned out to be perfect. I did not realize it, but the hotel where we stayed had just been built and opened a few months before so there was a lot of screws and nails on the beach.

I took my xlt to cabo mexico last july. I have the white's hardcase for it, that is designed to fit everything and be small enough for carry-on (which I highly suggest). If they lose my luggage or damage it, thats fine, but not my MD.

I took my MXT to Vegas in a softside case as carry-on. It came apart enough to fold the bag in half so it was the size of a breifcase. I was only questioned about it when I was leaving Vegas. The girl wanted to know what it was and when I told her she asked what I found with it. I told her about all the old gold mines in the desert and she was ready to quit her job and become a full time prospector. So much for security screeners, they don't take their job too seriously. Good Luck and happy hunting

I have traveled most of the world with my Minelab Excalibur 1000; checked baggage is the way to go for me, I hate having to carry much of anything threw any airport. However, it will require a hard case to protect the detector. I purchased a ?Pelican? gun case to travel with my detector on aircraft and cruise ships, and have never had a problem, ah well, err other than that time from Amsterdam back to Florida. I had to change planes at General De Gaulle airport in France. I took about a week for all my stuff to finally show up. The French, some things will never change.
