So I'm going on a cruise with my family to the Bahamas in February. I was thinking while they are all at the casino and waterpark I was going to hit the beach with my MD and see what pirate treasure I can find. Does anyone know the rules of this? I already spoke with the cruise line and they said it was fine just to break apart the detector and store it in my checked bag, but said nothing about the beaches in Nassau and Freeport.

I think Casper has been detecting there, he may have the info you seek.

I'm just guessing here, but seeing the pics from your album am I correct to assume I can MD on public beaches in the Bahamas?

yes - but you run into the wrong local (there are guys that fan for a living) and they might give you a hard time cause you are taking money out of their pocket
have heard stories of resort guards demanding a detecting fee or license fee of $25
a resort that myself and others have hunted with no prob - guy said life guard told him he could not hunt there
but as far as I know - long as it is not historical - you can hunt - all water is usually public - you can not privately own waters surrounding the islands
