I've had a tough time finding the contents and time period of this cork bottle.

The script is cursive and says:
McCormick & Co.
Baltimore Md.

Clear glass, 5.5 inches tall, 1.75 wide at base, and nearly .5 deep at base. There are no makers marks on the sides or bottom. The back-bottom edge is odd, I've attached a photo of that as well.

Please let me know your thoughts! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452140470.942336.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452140517.221687.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452140548.396131.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452140586.082518.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452140607.867681.jpg

Thanks!

Extract bottle, like vanilla or lemon flavoring...

Thanks for the info epackage... What do you make of the cursive script? The extract bottles I've been browsing through have block lettering.

yours looks to be an early one ,before 1900.the block letters and the ring lip was after.

Thanks Sunrunner! This McCormick Bee Brand Medicine ( Quinine Sulfate for treatment of malaria) bottle came up near the same area so I was hoping they were approximately the same age [emoji106]🏻[emoji482]

We are finding bottles with a pretty wide variation in time period so when I can't figure out details online it drives me nuts!!! Thanks again for your help.

Hey P.S.,

Your McCormick is a later blown bottle, my guess would be about 1905. The poison, I would say about 5-10 years older. Cool poison bottle!

[emoji24] Way to break my heart on a Friday!!! Lol (My sis and bro-in-law found the blue) Oh well, there's always that sliver of hope that you are in 1800s, but 1905 is still pretty awesome. Thank you for helping me narrow it down. Do you have any suggestions on references for me to use in the future when I'm stumped by a bottle?

Hey P.S.,

Here's the single best resource for learning about bottles, in my opinion. Anything I know I learned from this site: https://sha.org/bottle/

Keep digging, and good luck to you! I sometimes dig for a few days at a time and never find a keeper, and I'd totally be happy with the two you've found so far, especially that blue one.

While these appear in the Kuhn book and have K numbers they are not actually a poison, they were Quinine Sulfate for treating malaria, like any drug you could take too much of it and have problems, but they never sold any poisons at McCormick. This same bottle also comes in green but I haven't seen one with a label...

Thank you, that's very interesting information! I should have dug a little further before labeling it so confidently. Thank you both for the resources and help on these little beauties!! Hopefully there will be plenty more opportunities for me to put the new information to good use.
