Maybe a pre 1812 military cuff I'm still horrible at ID ing buttons. I could use some help please? Eagle facing right with letters underneath. Letters could possibly be RI? Backmark is interesting, not sure what the one word is, but Phila is just on other side of the Delaware River. This was found on Jersey side of River, short walk from River in a farm field. Salem County, NJ

Maybe this link will help?

Thanks for the link, very interesting and for sure the same

it almost looks like someone cut it smaller to use for something else, but it looks like an 1812 button, you can see the top of the "REG"
Thanks for your reply

Can't help with an ID but DEF a keeper!!!! Congratz..

As some other people have pointed out your button there has clipped edges. It may have been repurposed for civilian use or something. It is still a very neat find. The Federal period militaria is very cool looking and historic.

It might of just corroded off, doesn't make any sense to me why someone would clip it? A coin, I could understand, but a tiny cuff button, I don't think so. Thanks for your reply, seeing that eagle is always exciting.
