Maybe a mouth piece for a pipe?

I went out today , I didn't have much luck. My best find was a gilt button with a waterbury back mark. I found this mystery item also. I'm not sure what type of metal it is. The one end is threaded on the outside and the other has threads on the inside of the hole. I was thinking its a mouth piece to a pipe. Can anyone confirm this or ID it? What do y'all think?

Pics are rough....but I would lean towards a lamp piece.
Is the nipple a switch that turns? Is it holed? Is it a grease zerk?

no the nipples dont turn. I'm pretty sure its not a grease fitting
