Maybe a leaf spring?

Found on the bank of a creek. Area was a turn of the 20th century sawmill community in Southeast Texas.

No center bolt. Metal is thin, not sure if rusted, or made that way. Leafs are held together by crimps on the outside edges.

Maybe a barrel band or banding for shipping/ securing processed lumber

It's very possible it's a carriage leaf spring as Erndog pointed out, however with the piece lacking a center hole, I'm wondering if it's an ornamental piece for something, or like Joe-Dirt said it could be a piece of banding, if so I'm thinking it was just discarded after use... "D"
