I was hoping someone could shed some light on what this might be. I found it last week and thought that it only had the Star on the one side, but after soaking in olive oil and lightly brushing it, the big C with III in the middle showed up. You can see that it's smaller than a dime and it is very thin, from years of wear , I'm thinking. This was found close to Pioche NV where most of my recent finds have been coming from. Thanks for any info !! DSCN1903.JPGDSCN1904.JPG

That's an awesome find!! It looks like you found a US Three Cents coin! Someone must have thought it looked good as a pendant...
It looks pretty worn, but if its the type with no outline to the star, then it was made between 1851-1853 and is 75% silver & 25% copper. Overall, the three cents coin was made until 1873. Nice find!

It would be a 3 cent piece dated between 1851-1873. Nice find by the way.

Pioche and Panaca one my favorite places. Cathedral Gorge is one of the best camp grounds in Nevada. Check out the junction to Utah where Spuds Y bar used to sit.

Hey Qball, I'll have to give that a look. I knew Spud personally and I can remember when they had the old Indian Slot machines in there. I don't MD in public much, pretty much out in the Sticks, but I'm sure that would be a good place to find some Silver. Lots of BlackTop now days tho.
