Found this around a old RR. It appears to be a buckle of some sort but there is no typicall point on back that would go thru a hole in the belt? Any ideas? Thanks det finds upload 004.webpdet finds upload 005.webp

You have an early tongue portion of a 2 piece buckle that is called a tongue and wreath. It will date 1840's to 1850's ( to the best of my knowledge). We call them militia buckles. Great find! Tennessee digger
