Im not sure of yours but I found one that I had that was dated around the civil war period.

I have no Idea, but I do know you can get lead poisoning. A necklace at the dollar store was recalled because people where getting lead poisoning from it. I guess it must have been over exposure from wearing it. So be-careful and don't handle that horse a lot and keep it wrapped up.

PS: Cool find!

Keep @ it and HH!!

Cool horse 8) I think they stopped making lead toys in the 1940's or 1950's. Just dont put it on any cuts and you should be fine ;) That is unless you rub it all over your skin :D

Interesting find.

As Mudd said be very careful handling anything made of lead. The dangers are real!! It does not have to be "rubbed on the skin" or be near open cuts. Lead is readily absorbed through the skin and can also be absorbed into the bone marrow and stay there or be redisbursed into the bloodstream. Lead poisoning is not pretty and should be avoided. It takes very little to affect brain function. On a related note the lead content is not controlled on the overseas market and I know of a dog that died from lead that had leached out of its drinking bowl made in China. Be safe and HH.

thanks allot - i actually made it into a neclace and made it long enouph so i could put it into my mouth once in awhile when i had a hankering for lead - ::) thanks for the 40-50s tip and civil war suggestion i will use that to google for imfo - no kids ever lived in my house - but the neighbor has kids in their 30's - i have an idea it may have been their parents who grew up there - they r in their 70s and it may have been a hand me down toy - Thanks again - LBP
