matching buckles

Matching buckles found 24" apart
One still had dry rotted leather
I am assuming they are shoe buckles. Any help would be appreciated. They are about 1 1/2 inches long

they look like shoe buckles from a leprechauns shoes lol..if you happen to run into a shoeless leprechaun give them back to him and you will be rewarded..
just joking of coarse....any way i have ford several buckles like this in the past and was told they were saddle buckles from the 50's..i may be wrong but that's what i was told..

OWG...

That would explain why their was still leather. I they were from the mid 20th century.
