Marksman's Eye of a Scottish GoldMiner

Hi All , After a rather long and many trips chasing old Chinese Goldminer's Camps with little return for our work this Winter, I decided to start the second big project of the Year. The Scottish Goldmining Quarter once known as "Glasgow Way." The main Scottish township was set on the left side of the hill near the Mighty Husstler's Gold Reef no to far from the Old Irish town.

This project started on a simple Ginger Beer Bottle which i found last year. In 1853 a native of the Shetland Islands sailed to the Australian Gold Rush's of the 1850's. His name was William Bruce. First trying his luck as goldminer but being a Brewer by trade quicky learnt that much could be made from far less work than goldmining. William started his first brewery in 1854 in Sailor's Gully and quickly aquired an interest in both other Breweries and numerous hotels in the area.As a keen sportsman he quickly started a gold club and started the second oldest cricket club in Australia. Hare Coursing ,Bird shooting, and other game hunting were very popular at the time. With the start of the golden age of the deep quartz reef mines in the 1860's William moved his Brewery to the main town area and purchased a large house in the area where the Scot's all lived. For 60 years he and his sons owned one of the largest Breweries in the town.

From the historic records which came from all over the place which includes the local Government Stats from 1863 which was found in the UK. The Voting Roll came from the old town hall stored away for a 100 years, The silver shooter's medal was aquired from a collector 1000 miles away listed in the wrong section on E-bay , found by a friend of mine who brought it . Cheap

From the above i managed to piece together the whole story and life of William Bruce.

So i have now located where the family home once stood and have started hunting the site.
Found a large Edwardian House Sign made of copper. Oban House Oban means gate way to the islands and is a town in Scotland . No house but i,m on the right site. So let the fun begin. For get not with a huge gold bearing reef just a few yards away there will be some gold to be had at this site.

Funny how all these pieces were scattered across the world and are now returned to the local area . So i now have to see what else I can find . I assure this will be one awsome hunt. Stinking Rich Scot's with with heaps of money . :laughing9::laughing9::laughing9:
