Marks on trees

I have an older friend that owns a farm behind mine and he was telling me about an old Indian camp on it. He told me when he was a kid he would find arrowheads just laying on the ground and also there was a couple of trees that had marks cut into them. His mother told him that there was a story that some gold and silver was buried there by the Indians. We went there the other day and its been 75 years since he was back there He was sorta confused and it was so grown up you could hardly walk. I plan on going back when we have some good freezes to knock down some of the weeds

Indians would rebury gold and such because they had no need for it. I like to read about such stories and have found a few in the library of congress.
