Found this today during a brief search of a baseball diamond. The back, which is caved in, reads Scovill MFG & Co. There is another word which i cant make out.

it looks to me like a CW Marine button and the backmark should read : Scovill mgr.& Co.* Waterbury.

The style of eagle matches Albert's NA101A, but there is no rope border. The anchor is also tilted rather than straight, which matches NA101B, but again, no rope border--and there are only two manufacturers listed for NA101B--G. Floyd & Co., and C. Roth & Co.!
I'm looking at the type of backmark. Are there either dots or stars before or after the backmark? And are you sure it's MFG Co., or is it MF'G Co.?

OK--I have it.
Tice lists the button as "2p., medium letters with no ring, about 1860 to 20th century"
See Tice pp34-36. The backmark is listed in Plate B-9 #7
But again, looking at the presence or absence of the rope border, and the vertical or tilted anchor might date it within that date range (which is only dated by the backmark itself). So at this point, no way to know if it's CW or not, and it likely is not--since identical buttons were made for many years after the war.

WOW thanks so much for the info and the comments! Wish I could get a better picture of the back, but it looks like there is a dot and a star on either side of the mark. How ever old it is I am stoked to have it.
