Marble-like objects found in the desert.

I found these marble looking rocks in the area very near my house. I was wondering if anybody had any idea what these were. I was thinking they were old rocks the natives would use for games. It seems like they're made of marble, but they don't have any gloss or sheen.

Thank you!!! It's nice to be here. They've been scattered all over the place. One was in a wood pile next to my house, and one was a couple 100 feet behind it.

They are ceramic grinding media from a mining or chemical processing operation.

Barry has it right....probably alumina. Has a specific gravity very close to diamonds....about 3.5-3.7 I bought some last fall to test my gizmo.
