First time poster (new to the site) . . . I acquired this lamp and am trying to determine the age, materials, and approximate value. Iā€™m interested in selling it and am not sure how to price it. Thanks a million!

I'm thinking 1930ish. You won't find a unique lamp like that today at your local Home Depot. The cord is a newer replacement. It looks like maybe it was replaced like 30 years later.

Is there any truth to the statement that the number marked on the bottom correlates to manufacture date? If so, it would indicate that it was made in 1951 based on the photo I included.

I would agree on the 1930's time frame. It could be earlier but the casting quality is more 1930's than earlier better made pieces. The cord looks original so the piece couldn't be earlier than 1901 (UL approved)

The stone portion is calcite - not marble. The calcite probably came from Mexico. The base metal is a pot metal with painted "gold" finish.

There is no collector value in the piece but a willing buyer and seller could easily establish a current value. I would guess not more than $30?

Thank you for the detailed reply!

It's possible it's coupled to a date, but I'd learn more towards it being a product code or casting number.
