Manual mode on explore 2

I'm not sure what you mean by "manual" mode. You can switch between manual and semi-auto sensitivity. (I use manual sensitivity almost all the time set only high enough to have a steady threshold tone). You can also do manual noise cancel by manually selecting a channel instead of just pushing the noise cancel button. I don't use many of the bells and whistles on the Explorer II. I generally hunt in Iron Mask -12 to -14 using ferrous tones and take it slow, slow, slow while listening for the "silver jingle". That's how I get the most out of my Explorer II (and my Explorer XS). Most of the stuff on Explorers (Smartfind, and the display) are distractions that get many people wrapped around the axle and VERY frustrated. Learn what it is telling you in your ears and that's all you need. There is a British guy on YouTube who really breaks down how an Explorer works and what it's capable of. I forget his name but just search "Minelab Explorer II maximum depth." His video is in two parts. Hope this helps and HH.
