Hello everyone, Ive attached a video youtube link of my new Manticore and how it reacted to a modern clad dime on the serface and buried 6" in sandy loam dirt. The target ID values jumped considerably when buried. I did it with a modern quarter with the same results. I'm wondering if that's normal and if anyone has seen this with there machine?
Thanks!!

Turn your sensitivity down. Was it at 34?

Also there might be some type of metallic object in your dirt were you buried your dime.

They also say a freshly buried coin will give totally different TID #'s over a coin that's has been in the ground for a long time.

I found out early with the Manticore, you don't need a lot/high sensitivity to get lots of depth.
It gives better TID #'s as well= more consistent #'s

Thanks for the help. My sensitivity was at 34, would that do it? I'm new to the Manticore, I upgraded from the 800. I was in an area with no trash so had it up pretty high. That's one thing I like about the Manticore, it takes the high sensitivty settings without a lot of chatter.

Sensitivity of 18-22 gets me a easy 8"-10" depth in my dirt. At times i will run it up 24.

Soo many different variables can affect your TID#'s like, swing speed, coil height, ground mineralization, among other settings.

I only got about 20hours of swing time under my belt on the Manticore. So I'm learning every time I go out.

Great machine!

Sounds like sensitivity is too high. Also reading will be different when buried to being on surface.

To properly test it, scan the ground before you bury target to be sure no other metal is there. You can make a test garden too, but be sure to scan ground before burying test targets to be sure no other metal in ground..

Thanks for the advice , I'd re-test in the same area but I was a few hundred miles from home.
It was very clean ground. I've noticed, on the Manticore, If im in Iron rich ground the ID map lights up accross the top of the map. I then have to reduce sensitivity, ground balance or both. I wasn't getting any of that.

Sounds like the sensitivity setting may have been the culprit ( had it set high). It concernd me as 20 is quit a large ID discrepancy. I didn't notice that much descrpency in my nox 800, althoth I could only set the nox ( in most cases) to about 18 before it would start chirping.
I'll try in my back yard with lower sensitivity to see if I get the same results.

I guess I should have asked earlier, but does your Manticore have the newest software update in it?

If you have recently got your Manticore It should have the newest software update.

I'll have to look the software # up if you think that could be it.

I've had it a few weeks and did try to update it. When I did, Minelab said it was up to date.
