Okay, so me & my fiancé took our brand-spanking new F5's out yesterday for a test run. Turned mine on and set the controls as suggested, then did the ground-balancing thing. Immediately got a hit. Dug a plug, stuck in the ProPointer, and out popped this 5$ gold coin!!

The my fiancé did the same, and within two minutes found this amazing gold ring. Sucker must weigh 15 grams!

Over the next couple of hours we pulled out 15 wheats, 19 Mercury dimes, 12 silver quarters (and a few clad) and 3 1800's silver dollars!

This is MUCH EASIER than I thought!!!

Okay, seriously, we found part of an old lawnmower blade, a can top, a rusty cut nail, some kind of aluminum container, an old strap hinge, and what looked like a folded-over piece of aluminum siding (which I promptly lost).

But it WAS fun and these machines DO work as advertised.

Will keep you posted!

The George VI 'coin' ring is puzzelling me, they are normally made of a silver coin but I have not seen a coin with that leaf boarder.???

It would be nice to see a picture of all the finds.

OMG, so many questions, Where (general location, was it a yard, park, sports field), can you take more pix of both sides of coin and ring.
That is the stuff myself/and I'm sure everyone on the site are looking for!
Congrats, might be another banner find!

It's not really that hard, but which site you choose, and how many other detectors have been there before you, plays a huge part. I'm thinking you were searching virgin ground.

I went to a state park beach for an hour yesterday and only found 3 bottle caps and 3 pull tabs. So that beach must get searched a lot.

Even my $100 Pioneer 101 is really sensitive, so sensitive, I can find tiny pieces of dirty foil stuck in the dirt. They are hard to see but when I persist, I usually find out that it was a tiny piece of foil in there. I have even found a shard of a rusty pin, and paperclips, and paper staples.

The way the original post is worded, I got the impression that they were just joking around about the gold coin and ring and really only found the trash.

That's what I'm thinking, If someone found 34 silver coins they'd put pictures of them up instead of their trash finds.

Hi Hal; Congrats on those finds. Sounds like you have a honey spot there. Get back to it "NOW". Do you know there are hundreds of folks here who have Never found a gold coin ?? You are indeed a lucky couple there. Remember to Post the pics ok. PEACE:RONB :notworthy:

Guys this was a total joke from the beginning! A great one too, based on the number if replies asking about the location etc.

I'm feeling bummed now. I was all excited the other day to post pictures of the 3 mercury dimes I found the first day out with my new metal detector. Not a single response from anyone. I'm just sayin.

Beez I love Mercury dimes so congrats to you!

No, actually you did much better than the original poster...he was just joking about the gold coin and ring. So, I'll say "Congrats!" on your 3 mercs.

I WAS ABOUT TO SAY!

After the" Seriously " part sounds about Right.
