Stumbled upon this site trying to broaden my knowledge on finding/learning anything I could about native american artifacts. I live in the fingerlakes area and fish cayuga lake a lot more on the north end which I know has a lot of native american history. Was shore fishing and got caught up looking around at neat rocks and such and came across these two that kind of stuck out to me. The longer one looks possibly nature made, but it stuck out mostly from its shape and the tapered edge all the way around, though it doesn't look like the edge was "made".
The second one stuck out more so because of the straight side and tapered edge all the way around as well as the small hole. The hole is very tiny so seems almost impossible to have been handmade and the hole is also at an angle, but looking through the hole is pretty round and consistent. I'm new to the search, but am in a great area to start with a lot of native history and am looking for some guys with a little more wisdom on this topic 20150319_213645.jpg20150319_213359.jpg20150319_213234.jpg20150319_213151.jpg20150319_213112.jpg20150319_212859.jpg20150319_212800.jpg

Welcome to TreasureNet!

one way to look at the rocks you spot is....what would it have been used for? Most stone artifacts have pretty clear purpose and many look like things we still use today.

thanks for the replies guys, I try not to let my mind go too wild looking around so if I find something it stuck out pretty well. The one with the hole is also very smooth all around, almost seems buffed.
