I took a break from detecting and went to the river to pan a little. I didn't find any gold but I did spot this rock along the edge of the water. It was settled in with rounded river rocks and quartz. There is bedrock lifting up also. But this looked different from anything else in the area. LOCATION INFO: Near Lowrys, Anson County, N.C. along the S.C. Line. So my question is this, is it a natural occurrence or possibly a Native American tool? I don't have any information on the Indian population in that area but I am sure there was most likely some.
UPDATE: Further research shows the Catawba and Cheraw Tribes lived in the area in considerable numbers. Give me your opinions.
Exactly 7" long across the bottomView attachment IMG_20180113_142031926.jpg Rounded on the ends. Flat across the bottom rounded on top. Perfectly straight. Bottom is flat, almost too flat for natural. Tight flat fit on my counter.
