I grabbed another pan full of dirt from another tributary in the same area where I dig for fire and at first glance I thought I hit the jackpot but it's not gold, it's heavy, non magnetic, it stays in the black sands with the iron stones and magnetite etc but I can't seem to identify it, anybody here know what it is, and are the last photos a garnet you think, its heavier and harder then quartz. P.S I dont have a metal detector of any kind so there could be trace gold amounts making them so heavy..

Dont know myself. Usually I've picked out anything that big before I get to the black sands. If you think there might be something in them give'm a crush. Your last bit there could be garnet. Pretty good pan.

I was just curious if anyone has seen it before, they actually were embedded in the black sands, that's why at first glance it tricked me, I was down to the black sands slowly swishing it back and I saw big yellow tips start to show through the black sand and I thought I scored, this tributary isn't claimed up but I took the pan from bedrock and the gold is to tiny for the effort.

I have seen yellow stones like yours in the black sand I've just never been curious to figure out what they are~ I'm of the opinion that they are an iron oxide of some form. For one pan thats actually very good if you ever scale up. Every bit counts :) Sorry I cant be more helpful, likely someone from the prospecting forums might stop by with their views.

I'm not that curious to bother the gold guy's, probably get a good laugh though, its probably iron oxide/limonite with the yellow being limonite I'm thinking. I actually went out agate hunting again today, found some pretty cool stuff but it has to be cleaned first then I'll post some of what I found, I also grabbed a half bucket of bedrock dirt from that unclaimed tributary, I'll pan it out tomorrow and post what's in it.
Thanks DDancer.

I panned out that half bucket and this is what was in it, for me it's to small for the work but it was still fun, I thought I'd share...20201218_141914.jpg20201218_142110.jpg
