I know religion is kinda taboo around here but I have to share this and get your thoughts on this.....once when I was being heavily persuaded to find jesus a preacher was asked a question I'm pretty sure he'd never been asked and may have not even thought about before himself.

I was under pressure from my wife to start going to church and she got her preacher involved in her endeavor. For weeks they tag teamed me with guilt, promises, potluck dinners, and pamphlets. Luckily food was part of their arsenal because I probably wouldn't have heard one word of what they said without it. Not because I am atheist, I believe in god. I'm just not sure how. But I do know it doesn't involve dressing up on sundays or letting my children go anywhere near a vegi tales video.

So I'm pulling into a local gas station during this time and I see preacherman (hes a pretty good fella by the way) and of course he comes up to me but today he was feeling the power in the blood and started to rant (he usually wasn't that bad), I don't know if it was because I had become his special project or what but he was straight on religion talk thats when a thought came to me and a question that I had conjured in my mind over the past and was actually curious how it would be answered by a religious person. I said to him ...How could I fully give myself to a god who created earth and all that was in it even the future ....that left civilizations of mankind in the dark to his word and direction to heaven. How could god leave those people out of his will if he created them in the first place. Did they not have souls? Why didn't they have the luxury of knowing what was to become of the end of their life on earth?

He had an answer......the next time I saw him. It was a pretty good answer...but it created another big question. I'm not going to say right now what he said.....I'm curious if any of you know what he said or have a view from a religious aspect to this question yourself.

This thread has sat here for a couple hours with no replies and you know how I hate to see that ole buddy.....

Be the struggling antagonist, it works for some. The only unpardonable sin is to die in unbelief....and you do believe, I think you're safe. I'd got to church more often but they keep passing that plate around....special offering for the "building fund", special offering for the "missionary trip", etc., etc......

Oh man, where's Trevmma when you need him?! He's well "versed" in these matters. Someone send him a PM and ask if he'll reply to this thread. His answer(s) would be more appropriate for your question than my easy way out.

Well most people know that the conversation of religion is endless and this isn't really a place to discuss it but I brought it up because I know everyone here that hunts points has some sort of questions in their own minds about these peoples some and imagine say...what types of games they played with the pcs they find and what were the rules, was it fun, how important was this smooth stone with a pyramid shape, or like me did they have souls, why didn't "jesus" oracle to them etc. Im not really looking for an answer the preacherman gave me the biblical answer which i was wondering if anyone here knows, thats why i havent mentioned what he told me from bible text I'm curious to know if anyone (without looking it up) knows what it says or what personal views they had on it or if anyone has ever even thought about it. I know a lot of people that hunt points also are christians and I can't imagine any of them (with any faith) to have not thought about this. Like americus's methodist friends. Have they not thought about this. Does this touch on disproving god too much ...maybe thats why noone thinks too hard about it. Maybe most people just wanna look at flint. Some are more curious than others.

Also im didnt make this post because I am seeking answers just curious to peoples thoughts. I realize that no matter how much you look for answers in religion, you won't find them. Being a good person is about all i can do.....ok ok im not good on tnet but in real life i try to be lol

Do you think god reads tnet geesh i hope not ill have some repenting to do.

I've often thought along these lines also and wondered. Seems kinda unfair.

Found a boatstone yesterday. It was very well made. The first thing I thought of was that whoever made it believed in something and I wondered what.

Sounds like a darn good question to me. You put it well, too.

Looking forward to hearing/seeing the answer you got

Nan
love your sig line, too lol

This really a good topic for ancient man. I have often wondered the same and have discussed it with smarter people than I. My humble theory is this. Religion is a genetic trait of man. Ancient man always created a God. Paleo or any culture have always found something to worship. I believe this to be true because man wants to think there is more to life than what we see on this world. There has to be more than this life. Every civilization ends up creating a god and worshipping it. I think if they were good providers good to their family and clan then God knows this. I do not think people are doomed because they did not have the opportunity to know religion as we do now. I think if an isolated tribe worshiped a rock and were good people why would a fair God deny them. It would be vain of us to judge them using modern religion. My vote is there were good souls through out time. But then I like to give every one the benefit of doubt and not judge.

Pursuing my degree in theology, the questions are not new, nor are they unanswerable. Even with a good answer you have to believe it. The reason this kind of discussion will inevitably fail in a forum format is, it needs to be an honest open discussion, that does not have the simple quick answers some would lead you to believe. To someone who already believes the answers it seems logical enough, those same people too often forget what seems logical to them may still be very illogical to the questioner.

The main thing about this subject is a god, from any religion, will involve an acceptance of supernatural or spiritual subject matter. You can't truly debate religion if you are unwilling to accept that fact. A good approach is view it hypothetically at first, and see if the answers are satisfactory, at which point if they are then you have the decision to make whether you will accept them as true or hypothetical.

I dont know what the "preacher" said to you. I tend to only beleive what I read in the bible, not what somone else tells me, unless of course they cans show it to me from the bible! =D Here is what I beleive: Romans 6:23 - "For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord." Then: John 5:27-29 - "And he has given him authority to do judging, because Son of man he is. Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement." Even if these cultures did not know God, they will still get the chance to get to know him later when they are resurrected, and then they will have to make thier own decision weather or not they will choose worship him. Any sins a person had gets wiped out when they die as it says in Romans, even "vile" sins like it brings out in John. So God will give EVERYONE the chance to know and worship him, even these cultures that never knew him. He is a "Just" God and would not "leave them out of his will" as you put it. Thats just what I beleive, take it for what you will.

I was forced to go to church as a child, but as I began to work 6 days a week I felt as if I needed one day "off " per week.
I believe in God, but I'm not so sure he is anything like we have been taught.
If you want a real eye opener, search Alien Disclosure Project on Youtube.
It will blow your mind.

I studied the beliefs and practices of shamanism for many years. Shamanisn was and is the spiritual belief/technology practiced by so-called primitive peoples throughout time. Neanderthals as well as early modern humans included burial offerings with their dead, indicating a belief in something beyond physical life. Nothing tells me, and this is JMHO, that their beliefs and shamanistic practices were/are inferior to the organized religions of civilizations. Also, and again JMHO, I believe Tibetan Buddhism does in fact provide answers to its' dedicated practioners.
