Making a search coil

I was thinking of trying to make a large DD search coil for my goldmaster 4b. Anybody ever try to make their own searchcoil before? I know ther are some article on the net, I ran across one or two but would appreciate some input if you have it.
I know the coils have to be wound to 50 hertz and they use 2 coils but I will need to find out more about the coils and if they are send or receive.

I was looking into this as well tonight for a fun project I am going to attempt. The info I was finding wasn't that impressive however so I am also interested in what others here can come up with. I am wondering if there isn't design considerations based on the machine type such as Pi, VLF etc. Any info or links would be great! I will post up any that I find worthwhile as well.

Building your own coil? Hmmm. That would make an interesting experiment. Let us know how it goes. Better yet, keep a photographic record. That would be a great post!
